Earlier this month Tim McGraw and Faith Hill celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary and now the "I Called Mama" singer is sharing his advice for a happy marriage.
"Expect fights," McGraw said with a laugh when talking with his record label about marriage. "Everybody fights. We all fight, but I think that the commitment to this is what you want out of life and having that commitment, I want this to be my life, and stickin’ with it and not givin’ up on it I think is the biggest key."
In addition to the unconditional commitment through better or worse, McGraw also shared two other big keys to a successful marriage are "Love and respect. Y'all know that."
McGraw and Hill's 24th wedding anniversary was on October 6 and to mark the special day, McGraw turned to Instagram to share a sweet tribute to his wife. Set to the sound of his track, "Hard To Stay Mad At" from his recently released Here On Earth album, McGraw shared a slideshow of photos of the couple throughout their marriage. Alongside the video, the country star also shares a heartfelt message to Hill, which reflects his marriage advice.
"24 yrs…….These years have rushed by in a series of beautiful, painful and unexpected moments….We have loved, laughed and cried through exciting, inspiring and heartbreaking events in our lives together," McGraw wrote in the caption. "U have been a role model for 3 remarkable young women who have made me a better man than I ever thought I could be…..The future will surely hold more of all of these things."
"It only matters if I’m with you. It only works if I’m with you. My oxygen only exists if you’re by my side," he added. "Forever and always living and loving our way through anything @faithhill."
McGraw and Hill first met in 1994 at Country Radio Seminar in Nashville. They began touring together in 1996, the same year they tied the knot. The couple shares three daughters together- Gracie, 23, Maggie Elizabeth, 22, and Audrey Caroline, 18.
