The Deftones are marking the 20th anniversary of their seminal White Pony album this summer with a remixed version of the album dubbed Black Stallion.
The announcement came during a virtual press conference Thursday held via Zoom.
Frontman Chino Moreno explained that the remixed album will feature contributions from several artists, including famed producer DJ Shadow whom the band has long admired.
Deftones' original concept for the Black Stallion project was to have Shadow remix the entire LP, but the band ended up breaking the project into smaller pieces among a larger group.
Few details were given on the other collaborators, except that some of the artists involved "actually inspired some of the writing of the record itself," Moreno said.
The band also confirmed that its ninth studio album has been completed and could be released as early as September.
Deftones had planned to tour North America this summer alongside Gojira and Poppy.
